Looking after our seniors well.
They helped build and transform Singapore
- We will help our seniors remain active and healthy, so that they can continue to contribute and can age gracefully. We have built senior care facilities, including Active Ageing Hubs, across Jurong GRC. We also support families and caregivers in their efforts to look after their aged members through dementia day care centres. Already, St Andrew’s Nursing Home, opened in 2019, provides long- term support for the elderly and those with dementia and other mental health issues.
- The Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation Packages recognise the unique contributions of our senior Singaporeans, who grew up in much tougher times. They will receive affordable care if they fall ill. Many lower income seniors will also receive monthly support through the Silver Support Scheme, which will be provided to more people from later this year.
- We will also expand community programmes for free medical transport for seniors, to and from hospitals and polyclinics, and our free meals and shopping delivery for seniors who live on their own.
WHAT WE ARE DOING TOGETHER IN JURONG GRC
We must never stop in our efforts to make Singapore better, for every citizen.
We believe this requires good government policies complemented by strong community initiatives.
We strengthened many of our schemes during COVID-19, and will continue with several of these initiatives in Jurong GRC even after the pandemic.
We will work closely with government agencies, volunteer organisations, employers, our many committed volunteers and all our residents,
to build a strong and compassionate community.
